To say I am enjoying my fishing at present is an understatement and I haven't even started on the barbel yet. Once again roving on the new waterway I am targeting, I lost a large chub early on in the session. However wandering further downstream trickling bread crust through each swim I paused in, revealed where the chub were holding up. When smaller fish began to pick off the crust I threw some compressed pieces through the swim and in one specific swim revealed a good shoal of roach. Wafting a free lined large piece of compressed crust through the swim on a size 6 I could see smaller fish picking bits off the hook bait, when my surface lined straighten however I lifted the rod into a lively fish, which turned out to be a decent roach, 1oz short of the 1-00 mark. Catching such a stunning immaculate fish from a small overlooked waterway, reiterates the point to expect the unexpected.
